Improving Diversity in the Physical Education Teaching Workforce

Over the past eighteen months, EMF in partnership with the Association for Physical Education (afPE) has carried out research exploring the low percentage of recruits from minority ethnic backgrounds into Physical Education Initial Teacher Training in Britain. Funded by Capacitybuilders Improving Reach Programme, the project has sought to raise awareness of this issue, improve recruitment intake from under-represented groups, while developing the sector’s capacity through EMF’s network as well as among organisations providing careers advice.

Hard to Reach Groups – Focus on Muslim Women

Over the past year, the Food Standards Agency (FSA) commissioned EMF to carry out a three- month England-based research project to further knowledge of the needs, views, behavioural patterns of Muslim women towards food. The research sought to achieve a better understanding of this consumer group, while developing adequate methods of engagement.
